The Romney Flip

Who remembers Jim Jeffords?  AKA Jumpin’ Jim.

Jim Jeffords retired from the US Senate in 2007 after he used his position for personal power.  Back in 2001, with the balance of power teetering in the Senate, he decided to jump from republican to ‘Independent’ handing control over to the democrats.

One has to wonder how much they offered him to abandon his conservative principles.

Now, with Georgia hanging in the balance, we can expect the same tactics.  There are 50 solid republican senate seats after the 2020 election, and two more that are in need of a runoff, scheduled to occur in January of 2021.  If one of them goes to the democrats, then that creates a 51-49 balance.  And the democrats will do anything, immoral, illegal, or corrupt, to get a seat switched.

Keep a close eye on Romney.

Romney showed himself to actually have no conservative morals (what do you expect from a republican that served as Massachusetts governor?).  Ignoring the successes of the Trump administration, he focuses only on the bloviating rhetoric from the 45th President.  This makes him the equivalent to most of the ‘never-trumpers’ all over the media.  When the rubber met the road, they and he have showed they were not real conservatives, just talked like it.

Although we should not expect Romney to make any moves until after the two runoff elections in Georgia.  After all, until those races are decided, there is no profit for Romney yet.

So what happens if they bride him to jump ship?  Even if he doesn’t have to nerve to go full democrat, he will likely caucus with the democrats anyway.

Why do ‘independents’ align themselves with the socialist party that punishes independent thought?

Such a jump would flip the Senate back to 50-50, and assuming Trump loses the fight, give Harris a tie-breaking position in any legislation.

Conservatives should consider attempting to do the same.  There are several democrat Senators in congress who see the direction of their party and could just as easily jump ship and declare themselves independent and caucus with Republicans.

It’s worth the effort.  Because if republicans do not learn how to fight…  The country is lost.
